Hey everyone! I’m back from my winter vacation to Blackrock Island. It wasn’t my first choice for a vacation. I only like visiting warm places. I wanted to go to Palm Island for sunshine, but my mom said I’d love our trip to Blackrock. She was right!

Blackrock is usually freezing cold. The temperature didn’t even get up to 10°C, but we packed lots of warm clothes so we weren’t cold. We were very active on the trip. It was very different from spending a few days relaxing on the beach. We went on a long hike through the grasslands and glaciers, and we even got to see Fire Mountain. It’s the biggest volcano on the island. You can only hike on the volcano in the summer, so I’ll have to go back sometime.

The next day, we went on a boat ride to go whale watching. We didn’t actually see any whales but it was still really nice. On the ride back, there was a light shower, and I even got to see a rainbow!

Mom finally let us relax on the third day. We visited some hot springs and took a bath. I could have stayed in there for hours, but my mom wanted to go shopping for souvenirs. We bought a shirt for my dad and a poster of Fire Mountain for my brother.

I would love to go back and visit Blackrock again. I never thought I would love a cold weather vacation so much. I think it might even be a long time before I go on vacation to a hot place again.
