detached A detached house is on its own with a garden and a driveway. Detached houses are big and expensive and are usually in the suburbs.

semi-detached Semi-detached houses are two houses together. They are in the suburbs.

bungalow Bungalows have only got one floor. They are in small towns and the suburbs.

terraced Terraced houses are in long rows. They are in city centres. There is sometimes a garden at the back.

cottage In the countryside, there are cottages. They are small and pretty with big gardens.

block of flats In city centres, there are blocks of flats. These homes are on top of each other!
